The Route Path:
NC-906 begins at an intersection with US 17 west of Bolivia. From here, the route heads southeast, before reaching an intersection with US 17 Business. NC-906 heads southwest with the business route for less than 700 feet before the state route leaves US 17 Business.
NC-906 continues south from here, passing through the unincorporated communities of Half Hell and Antioch before intersecting Gilbert Road. After the intersection, the route curves southeast, passing numerous houses and woods, passing through random parts of the Town of Oak Island before reaching an intersection with NC-211.
At the intersection, NC-906 turns into a 4-lane divided highway, continuing south towards the coast. The route passes through a lot of woods, before eventually crossing the Intracoastal Waterway on Swain's Cut Bridge. NC-906 actually enters the Town of Oak Island on the bridge, and the route loses its median, getting replaced by a two-way turning lane.
Eventually, the route intersects Oak Island Drive and shrinks to a 2-lane undivided road. NC-906 continues to head south, crossing another canal, before reaching the coastal part of the town. There, the route intersects Pelican Drive and Dolphin Drive before reaching its southern terminus as Beach Drive.
My Experiences:
I have never been on NC-906, but I have passed its north end on US 17 multiple times.
